Hailing from Orlando, FL, My Friend, Thayne can be best described as 2020's version of what the early 2000's sounded like. Heavily influenced by albums like Kanye West's "College Dropout", Talib Kweli's "The Beautiful Struggle", Mos Def's "The New Danger", and Jay-Z's "The Black Album", My Friend, Thayne's music aims to be the reemergence of a classic hip-hop sound without compromising how far the genre has come.
A true genre-bender, My Friend, Thayne began his music career as the frontman for Hip-Hop/Pop-Punk band Dear Tatiana. A producer and songwriter in his own right, My Friend, Thayne wrote and produced both Dear Tatiana EPs.
"I really love these 2 genres and I really feel like they could love each other with the right people behind it" says My Friend, Thayne.
The Local Natives, a blog curated for bands from Florida that have played the state's major music festival: SunFest, describes Dear Tatiana as a "deadringer for Childish Gambino".
